Mardi Gras Commissions

<<Les mardi gras sont dessus un grand voyage>>
Every year we make ourselves available to create a limited number of custom Mardi Gras costumes for people looking for a personalized, expertly curated, and complete carnival look. This is one of our favorite parts of the job. We blend tradition with contemporary design to approach each commission with an expertise only found in Southwest Louisiana. Our costumes are truly living, breathing pieces of history and personal expression.
Whether you’re leaning into the tradition or throwin’ it out the window, we’re here to bring your vision to life with feathers, fringe, and just the right amount of mischief.

What does a custom Mardi Gras costume include?
We specialize in making full characters for our commissions. This includes a head-to-heel costume; mask, head covering/capuchon, and body suit. Partial costumes are only considered on a case-by-case basis.
What does a costume cost?
The base price for our costumes are $750 (USD) with a non-refundable deposit of $150 (USD). Materials fee will be calculated once the design plan has been finalized. Average materials fee range from $75-$100, though we aim to work within a client's budget. Costumes may require additional labor and/or materials fee depending on intricacy of desired design. We will seek client approval before moving forward with any additional labor or materials after the original design plan has been agreed upon.
Generally speaking, our costumes range from $825 to $1100.
When will I get my costume?
Production starts after the invoice has been paid in full. Commissions can take up to 10 weeks to complete depending on where your commission falls on our list. We work on a first-come-first serve basis. Typically speaking, all Mardi Gras commissions will be completed and ready to be shipped or picked up two weeks before Mardi Gras day. Please let us know if you need your costume to be ready for a different date. Expedited processing fees may apply.
What type of materials are used?
We specialize in sourcing second-hand materials, heirloom-quality when possible, and utilizing local flora and fauna accessories to complement any textile work. We strive to repurpose second-hand textiles as much as we can for each custom costume. Quality is prioritized, though, and when needed we purchase materials new to maintain integrity. We always opt for natural-based fibers such as cotton and linens, when possible, to provide a breathable and adaptable wearing experience. Please let us know if you require special or specific fabrics or materials.
How does the customization process work?
Once the preliminary questionnaire is submitted and the deposit is paid, we will reach out to you to schedule a consultation to review your requests. Within 2 weeks a design plan and the final invoice will be sent via email. Your approval is due within 48 hours. Client is liable to pay a re-design fee if major edits are required/requested for approval. Production will begin once the final invoice is paid in full. Please let us know if you are in need of payment accommodations.
